One of my favorite projects that I have completed so far is my soap dish holder.
I really love how it turned out and it was super easy and cheap. The only things involved in making it was a candle stick holder that I already had, a clear plate from the dollar store, and some frost spray paint from Wal Mart I got for a couple of bucks.
I took my small, clear plate outside and coated it in the frost spray paint.
I did this in the grass and it ended up getting a pretty cool grass pattern on it that you cant see in the pictures. After it was almost dry, I placed it on top of the candle stick holder. As it dried, it adhered the plate to the candlestick. Next I tied a burlap bow and the soap dish holder was complete!
Now to decorate the plate with objects. I found a couple of different tutorials on how to make your own soap dispenser so I thought I would give it a shot. I had a mason jar already and I just bought a soap dish holder from the dollar store.
I took the pump out of the soap dish holder and punched a hole in the top of the lid of the mason jar and stuck the pump through it. It was so snug that I did not need to hot glue it into place.
Now, I wanted to color my mason jar to give it a bit of pizazz. I saw a few tutorials on Pinterest. Unfortunately, it didn't work. So I just washed out the jar and left it clear. Maybe I will try it again later.
Anyways, here is the end result that is now sitting in my kitchen. It's a great addition.
So I have been looking for something to hang my growing collection of necklaces on. I usually just have them in a big heap in my jewelry box, but that presents a problem when I actually am trying to look presentable and put together for the day and I have to spend an hour untangling them from one another. So I went on a search and found some ideas on the internet that I could try myself. I started gathering the items with not a very clear idea of what I was actually going to do, but I had faith that something would work out. I bought a cheap picture frame at the dollar store and got some burlap and screws at Wal Mart for a couple of bucks. Then I went to work. I first took out the glass from the frame and broke off the cheap plastic pieces on that back of the frame. Here are the broken pieces from the back of the frame and the glass I removed.

I started playing around with some ideas and ultimately decided to hot glue to screws to the top of the frame since the frame is plastic and not wood so i could not actually screw them in. The hot glue worked out well. Then I cut out a piece of burlap that fit the size of the frame and hot glued it to the back of the frame. After several glue burns on my finger, I got it all put together and looking good. I then added that a burlap bow to one side of the frame when some of the frame had broken off.
And voila! A beautiful and functional jewelry holder. I love how it turned out, especially since I really had no idea what I was going to do when I began the project. Here is the final product:
